Rosca de novia

"Rosca" is a sweet challah in the Ladino traditio

When a bride of Spanish descent goes to the mikvah, one of the family members will make la rosca de novia (or “challah de novia”) – the bride’s challah. It is a sweet round, spiced with cinnamon and dotted with raisins, which symbolizes a blessed and successful marriage. Some practice crossing the challah over the bride’s head when she comes out of the mikvah.
