Romanian kebab

Romanian kebab - Mici or Mittitei in Romanian - is one of the flagship dishes of Romanian cuisine, an ode to the grill - and to garlic.

Ingredients for Kebabs

  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 7-8 garlic cloves grated
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch of cumin
  • pinch of hot or sweet paprika
  • 1 cup of cold sparkling water


  • 1. Pour sparkling water into a large mixing bowl and add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well by hand for at least 3-4 minutes. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 6 hours and up to 24 hours.

  • 2. Form a long sausage in wet hands from the mixture, 4-5 cm thick. Cut into 10 cm long units.

  • 3. Heat a heavy and greased pan, preferably striped or barbecue. Roast for 3-4 minutes on each side, over medium-low heat.
