This Purim, FOODISH wants you to think beyond hamantaschen with some forgotten foods and lesser known customs (we promise they’re just as delicious). For one day only, Friday, March 22, FOODISH will open a pop-up stand at the Tel Aviv Port Market featuring five Purim pastries from different culinary traditions in the Jewish diaspora. All of them will be available to taste, and purchase, right before the Purim holiday kicks off.

What will be waiting for you at the pop-up?

Ungola the secret weapon of Moroccans against the evil eye of Haman will be revealed; Nan-e Berenji, delicate rice flour cookies from the Persian Jews with a particularly juicy curse; Haman’s fingers small phyllo cigars from the Jews of Spain; Palmier, the French classic that plays a role in the Purim celebrations of French Jews; and South African Hamantaschen – hamantaschen that are unlike any you’ve had before.
